The EU Center congratulates members of our community who have been recognized for excellence in teaching and advising by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences in 2024.

Konstantinos (Kostas) Kourtikakis, who is a teaching associate professor in the Department of Political Science, received the LAS Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching for Instructional Staff. Dr. Kourtikakis is a longtime faculty affiliate of the EUC, a member of our Executive Committee, and teaches popular courses on European politics such as EURO 385 “Politics of the European Union” and EURO 392 “International Organizations and Regionalism” in Vienna. He also leads cocurricular activities for undergraduate students, including the Midwest Model EU Competition at Indiana University and the Schuman Challenge in Washington, DC. Congratulations to Dr. Kourtikakis!

Lucía Sánchez-Gilbert, a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese, received the LAS Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching for Graduate Teaching Assistants. Lucía contributed greatly to our programming in her time as a Title VI NRC-supported Graduate Assistant at the EUC, including organizing a screening of the Spanish film El buen patron (The Good Boss, 2021) in April 2023. Congratulations to Lucía Sánchez-Gilbert!

Stefan Djordjevic, associate director of undergraduate studies and director of advising in the Department of History, received the LAS Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising. A specialist on the history of Southern and Eastern Europe, Stefan will lead a Study Abroad course in Czechia this summer (HIST 354 “20th Century Europe in Prague”).
