The EU Center is pleased to announce that Jessica Greenberg, Associate Professor of Anthropology, has been appointed the EUC Acting Director for the 2024-25 academic year. A faculty affiliate of the EUC since 2014, Dr. Greenberg has actively contributed to the center in numerous ways, from inviting speakers and presenting at EUC conferences and workshops to supervising MA theses and reviewing FLAS fellowship applications.
Dr. Greenberg’s current research builds on her long-standing interests in democratic practice, activism, and power in the context of European integration. Drawing on ethnographic field research at the European Court for Human Rights, Dr. Greenberg examines how new definitions of European belonging and democratic practice are being defined through the legal management of citizens as rights bearing subjects. She is the author of After the Revolution: Youth, Democracy, and the Politics of Disappointment in Postsocialist Serbia (Stanford University Press, 2014).
