The European Union Center participated in the inaugural TANDEM Dialogue at the University of Victoria on May 14, 2026. EUC Director Emanuel Rota and Associate Director Havva Karakas Keles represented the Center in thought-provoking discussions on two central issues on the EU-North America agenda.

The first session examined strategic dilemmas in trade and technological innovation, exploring how the EU, the US, and Canada are navigating industrial policy, export controls, and technological interdependence in an increasingly contested multilateral trade regime. The second session focused on tensions in green and energy transition, where transatlantic climate ambitions converge and where subsidies, supply chains, and energy security pull partners apart.

The EUC looks forward to the upcoming TANDEM events, with the next Dialogue scheduled at American University in Washington DC on October 15-17, 2026.

TANDEM (Transatlantic Network for Dialogue, Education and Multidisciplinary Research) is a Jean Monnet Network funded by the EU's Erasmus+ Programme, bringing together leading scholars and policy voices from across the Atlantic for sustained dialogue on pressing transatlantic issues. The EUC is a proud member of the TANDEM network.
