The European Union Center is thrilled to announce a new European Studies Graduate Student Conference award. This award is funded by the Comenius EU Center Student Support Fund, which was established by Carol Leff in 2022. Applications for the grant can be found here.
We will award two students with grants of up to USD 500 to offset costs of presenting at a conference during calendar year 2025. Award recipients will receive the funding as a reimbursement and must be able to provide receipts.
Eligibility
- PhD or MA student at UIUC
- Presenting at a conference in calendar year 2025
- Presentation should relate to a theme or area in European Studies
Requirements for award recipients
Awardees will be asked to become an EUC graduate affiliate and to submit a 500-word blog post to the EUC blog. This can be a summary of the awardee’s presentation or other related work or a post on a theme related to European studies, a news item, or an event.

- Justification for why this conference is professionally important at this point in your career
- Year, program, department
- Budget for up to $500 (transportation, registration or housing costs)
